Celebrate Spooky Season

This is one of the most wonderful times of the year! It’s when there’s a slight chill in the air, the leaves turn orange and pumpkins begin to line the front porches of every house in your neighborhood. October is officially upon us and with October comes arguably one of the best holidays of the year, Halloween.

Although the holiday occurs at the end of the month, you don’t have to wait until then to kick off your spooky season. Here are some ways to celebrate these wickedly wonderful times all month long!

Halloween Movie Nights

There is never a more perfect time to watch scary movies than during October. One great way to celebrate spooky season is to gather your friends, pop some popcorn and watch a Halloween movie. The great thing about Halloween-themed movies is that there is a little something for everyone to enjoy.  Whether you are looking for a Halloween classic, a chilling thriller or something fun for the kids, there is no doubt that you’ll find something to suit everyone’s needs! Some classic movies you should add to your watchlist include Hocus Pocus, Beetlejuice, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Halloween, The Adams Family, Rocky Horror Picture Show, and It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. Get cozy in your pumpkin pjs and enjoy!

Crave Pumpkins

Carving pumpkins is a tradition unlike any other. You can make carving pumpkins a full-day event with your friends, family, loved ones or even by yourself! Start by going to a pumpkin patch (if you don’t have a patch available, you can go to the store), to pick your pumpkin. Once you have found the perfect pumpkin, head to Pinterest to find your carving inspiration. Next, have a pumpkin carving party! This is a fun way to get into the Halloween mood, and once you are done carving, you can show off your pumpkin by putting it on your front porch or even on social media. There are also alternatives to carving like painting your pumpkin instead. Finally, the best part of carving pumpkins is that you can keep the seeds and roast them in the oven to enjoy as the perfect fall snack.

Decorate

Decorating your space is arguably one of the best ways to get into the Halloween spirit. Once you have your decorations up, it is a constant reminder about the season and what you have to look forward to the whole month of October. The best part is, when you are decorating during this time of year, there are so many options. You have many options to choose from. You can opt for cute autumn-centered decor, classic Halloween decor or even transform your home to a mini haunted house.

Visit a Haunted House

If you are someone who prefers tricks over treats, then visiting a haunted house is the best way to celebrate spooky season. Most haunted houses are available to visit all October long, some even open in late September. Search in your city to see if any local businesses or schools are hosting a haunted house and then head over with your friends or family to get the fright of your life!

If you are looking for a Haunted House in the St. Charles County area, then look no further than Fear: The Haunted House hosted by Kokomo Joe’s in St. Peters, Missouri! The house follows the story of Happy Horace Dickerson, an evil circus clown who lured unsuspecting customers to his seemingly fake haunted attraction. Fear: The Haunted House will be open every Friday and Saturday through October 29. Time slots are available for the haunted house as early as 7:00 p.m. and as late as 11 p.m.

If you have little ones, Kokomo Joe’s offers a toned-down experience from 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with a more kid-friendly environment.  Since some interactions could still be scary, Kokomo Joe’s will be enhancing the experience for guests to chase monsters and scary items away with flashlights.
